Review - Iron Man 3

You'd think by now that the "Iron Man" series would be tempered steel. But it's not. The third installment finds Iron Man pitted against The Mandarin, played by the amazing Ben Kingsley channeling Johnny Depp channeling Keith Richards. Aside from a few questionably gaping plotholes, my biggest complaint is that it doesn't measure up to the frenetic speeds of earlier installments. Despite all the gadgetry and fancy computer special effects, it's just not... sexy. Maybe that's indicative of Downey and his character getting older. Maybe it represents his mental decline. But let's be honest, this is supposed to be an action flick, not "How Tony Got His Groove Back." The cast is solid, the action is decent, the music... I don't remember the music. It either needed a little more or a little less "Home Alone." It's not bronze and it's not steel, it's just iron (aren't we in the titanium/adamantium age). 2.5/5.
