Douche on the Street #24 - Or #14 Redux

I've tackled this douche before but, well, he's still a douche. Actually, I'm not specifically targeting Prime Minister Stephen Harper, but more broadly his entire caucus or possibly, more narrowly, his caucus' campaign department.

I read this article today. It's about a group of grade 5 students in Orleans who decided that Stephen Harper is a cyber bully. And they're right. It's a bigger game with a bigger prize but praise [insert deity here] almighty, they are right. I mean, I gather from what I hear about the way he runs his cabinet that he's of the garden variety bully as well. But it's these kids that pointed it out to me. Their teacher, one Ms Natalie Casault, claims it was them, anyway. I suspect she might have prodded them a little bit but for the sake of endearing ourselves to the children (they say the darnedest things), we'll attribute it to them.

I won't waste breath defending Trudeau as I don't follow this thing very closely and couldn't vouch for his political soundings myself. But I watched the ad in question (or at least one ad) and I agree with these kids. You take a guy who has had some fun in life, done nice things for people, tried to be a good human being and you impale him. Or try to. There seems to be a bit of a jab at his masculinity in there and that is awfully dangerous turf in the new social climate, Mr Harper; turf I would not care to tread; turf you ought to be aware of given your position. You question whether he has what it takes or if he is just riding his namesake to fame. I couldn't tell you if he has what it takes, and you're probably right that he's famous for being famous as opposed to being talented. But so are Drew Barrymore, Charlie Sheen, Angelina Jolie, Jamie Lee Curtis, Keifer Sutherland, Michael Douglas, Jeff Bridges... Would any of them have been famous if their parents hadn't been in the business? Probably not. They got to learn at a young age the ins and outs of the business, so I would hardly hold the same against Trudeau. I would have to ask given your reckless control and scandalous terms if maybe you are the one in over your head?

You're just a bully and the majority of the country agrees. You got one-upped by a ten year old. Do us all a favour and listen to what the kid has to say. I hear you're in need of a new chief of staff; perhaps you should give this kid a call. Because you're running a country and acting like it's a grade school playground, you're a big, fat, douchey-face!
