Review - Dark Knight Rises
When CJ Koster-Allen said he was unimpressed with the Dark Knight Rises, I was a little surprised considering how everyone else was gushing about their "mind=blown." I thought maybe he had watched some poorly edited Korean version. Then I went to see it. And I know what he was talking about. Oh, sure, Nolan did a beautiful job directing. The acting and casting was top notch and full of returning performances. Except for one. Anne Hathaway. She wasn't bad, per se, but I just didn't buy it. Too innocent looking. Also, she reminds me of Sarah Jessica Parker minus twenty years and with better hair. That's not a plus. Camera work was a little fuzzy. But the big drawback was the story. It was long and boring. Much longer than it needed to be to be that boring. If you picture the traditional story diagram of a mountain with three climbing peaks as the typical story, The Dark Night Rises is more like a plain with a ant hill. And Bane is such a Mccharacter. Lame, with no really well planned out backstory. McBane if you will. The penultimate ending is THE ending. Or should have been. There could be no better way to end it. And then they tack on some crap. [Shakes head]. I remember reading about Nolan questioning a third movie, whether he had it in him and a story to tell. Sadly, he really didn't. 2.2/5 and that might be kind of generous since I'd prefer to avoid the deaththreats of fanboys. To be clear, the first two easily score above 4/5.
